Christianity seems foolish based on the world's
priori-ties. Yet, eternal salvation is more valuable
than all the fame, wealth and success pursued
by the world. The truth is: "If you think
you are wise by this world's stan-dards, you will
have to become a fool so you can become wise by
God's standards. For the wisdom of this world
is foolishness to God" (1 Corinthians 3:18,
19 NLT).
The world is confused when it comes to Christianity.
The need to understand what it means to be a Christian
is evident. We see the Catholics shamed by the
actions of their priests. The Episcopalians have
their genders con-fused. In the Protestant church
alone, there are several hundred denominations
who can't agree. Do we have to be part of these
organizations to be a Christian?
The Church is made up of those individuals who
are called out of a confused world, not an organization
con-fused by the world. Today, many are leaving
one church organization shaking their heads in
disgust, only to join another. Many are looking
for someone to agree with their judgments. Others
feel dependent on the church organization they
"belong" to for their salvation. What
is the truth?
The truth is not complicated, it is simple. Religion
com-plicates things by creating rules on how to
be right
with God. A true relationship with God is expressed
in one word-Jesus. He is the One who makes us
right and gives us a relationship with God. He
is the One who reveals to us that the search is
over. We have found the truth. Truly, Jesus is
the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).
Our conscience tells us that things are not right.
Some-thing is missing. We fall down and get up
many times in our search for that something. We
search high and low for answers, thinking there
must be something we can do to feel better. We
wonder about God, but how do we get to Him? As
the pain increases from our many falls, we become
willing to try anything, even God.
We never give it a thought that a relationship
with God could be so simple or even free. This
Jesus thing sounds just too simplistic for my
complicated mind. I must have to do something
more than believe in Him to figure out this thing
called life. As all hope fades, it seems impossi-ble
to find true peace, joy and love. I just don't
know what to do.
It is my hope that you will find true love as
you read through these pages. I pray that you
will be assured that God truly loves you and has
a wonderful plan for your life that begins with
accepting Jesus Christ for your sal-vation. This
may be too much to swallow at this point, but
give Him a chance by reading the following pages
with an open mind. The answer is Jesus Christ.
He is your peace, joy and love.
