Set Free
At Last
Have
you heard the saying, "You shall know
the truth, and the truth will set you free?"
Freedom simply means to be set free from
the bonds that hold us captive. We mostly
think of physical captivity, but our views
concerning life can be very binding. What
views hold you captive today?
For instance, is it habits like illegal drugs
and illicit sex that hold us captive, or is it
lying thoughts that say these practices bring
pleasure? In reality, these vices lead to much
pain. In our shallowness, we try to change things
externally, not realizing it is an internal imagination
of the heart that holds us in bondage. We believe
an untruth to deceive and mislead.
These vices, plus unforgiveness, offenses, bitterness,
adultery and other frailties have their root cause
in unbelief towards God, allowing the works of
the sinful nature and the demonic to freely operate
. We are tempted and deceived, drawn away by our
own lust and enticed, resulting in sin, much pain
and even death. We have no one to blame but ourselves
for the consequences of our sin. Our conscience
slowly hardens through believing a lie until many
are defiled.
Are you bound and at your breaking point? Are
you ready to admit you need help? Do you have
emotional pain and medicate it with immoral habits?
Do you need to be set free?
Where would you go for help? It may help to call
a friend and say, "I need help!" Some
would say you need professional help. Maybe you
have tried a 12 step group, became dependent upon
the group and even received sympathy. But where
does help for release and freedom truly come?
The Psalmist David knew that heaven and Earth
must be bridged so that mankind could experience
help which only comes from God, our Creator. We
can trust Him to deliver us from all our enslavements;
spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically
and socially. But how do we get to God for this
help? David said, "I will lift mine eyes
unto the hills, from where comes my help. My help
comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth"
(Ps. 121:1).
Jesus Christ came from heaven to preach deliverance
to the captive. He proclaimed, "I am the
way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to
the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). By faith,
we join with Him in His death, burial and resurrection.
In the Spirit, we are raised into heaven and now
sit beside our Heavenly Father. We are set free
from this present evil world. This new dimension
of living brings forth an entirely different view
of life. This is true freedom!
The Apostle Paul says, "If ye then be risen
with Christ, seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Set your affections on things above, not on things
on the earth. For you are dead, and your life
is hid with Christ in God" (Colossians 3:1-2).
Jesus Christ came to enable us to be set free
and to live life from a heavenly perspective.
But you must join in His resurrection by faith
and pray the sinner's prayer: "Jesus, I believe
you died for me and rose from the dead. I receive
you as Lord of my life! Come into my heart so
I can be free and right with God. Amen!"
This is the best day of your life, having received
right standing with God through the resurrected
life.
It's time to say, "I release these vices
from my heart in Jesus Name! Holy Spirit, fill
those areas of my heart that have been vacated."
Say also, "I release unforgiveness and bitterness
from my heart in Jesus Name! Holy Spirit, fill
those areas of my heart that have been vacated!"
The Holy Spirit empowers us to walk liberated
from immoral practices when He takes up residence.
Know and believe this today! "Jesus Christ
gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver
us from this present evil world, according to
the will of God and our Father" (Galations
1:4). Christ came to destroy the works of the
devil (1 John 3:8). We overcome the devil by the
blood of Christ (Revelation 12:11). We are redeemed
by the blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:18-20).
I urge you to spend time on this web site getting
to know the delivering power of the Good News
of Jesus Christ. He is our answer for true freedom
because of His work on the cross 2000 years ago.
"If the Son therefore shall make you free,
you shall be free indeed" (John 8:32, 36).
